New Delhi: A colourful and vibrant cultural performance by five teams of folk artistes from Bengal enthralled the capacity audience at Hamsadhwani Theatre at Pragati Maidan today on the occasion of West Bengal Day at India International Trade Fair 2015.
Dr. Amit Mitra, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Finance, Excise and Commerce and Industries, graced the function and also felicitated the artistes.
The evening started with rhythmic beats of Dhak by Lalit Badyakar and his troupe from Murshidabad. It was followed by rendition of Baul songs by Kartick Das Baul and his team from Birbhum. The viewers were also treated to Rava dance of North Bengal, Raibenshe martial dance and Chhau Dance of Purulia , which formed a creative and mesmerizing cultural ensemble that brought to the fore the everlasting magic of the folk art of Bengal.
