The Office of the Resident Commissioner, Government of West Bengal, New Delhi, organized a cultural programme to pay tribute to Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore on 21st May, 2017 at Muktadhara Auditorium, Gole Market.
The programme opened with a dance performance by Gurugram-based troupe Gandharbi, bringing out the depiction of the concept of womanhood in Tagore’s poetry and drama. This was followed by an ensemble presented by Saptak musical group of Delhi, comprising Tagore songs as well as his poems and references to his influence on famous poets in other parts of the world. The evening ended with a programme by noted Rabindrasangeet exponent from Kolkata, Shri Aloke Roy Chowdhury, who mesmerized the audience with his rendition of songs such as Amar Hiyar Majhe and Amaro Paran Jaha Chay.
Smt Jahanara Ray Chaudhuri compered the programme, which was graced by Secretary to the Prime Minister Shri Bhaskar Khulbe, Advisor, Industries, Government of West Bengal, Shri R.D. Meena, former director-general of All India Radio Smt. Archana Datta, senior officials and employees of the Office of the Resident Commissioner, apart from a large number of art and culture enthusiasts from the Bengali community in Delhi.
